Bearings and seals can be made from Graphite, Carbon, Mechanical Carbon, Composites, Metal impregnated graphite and a variety of plastics and Phenelic resins. Bearings and seals are used in a wide variety of industries to lubricate or seal.
Bearings are used in areas where rotation or excessive wear are a concern.
Seals are used to do just what their name implies, seal a surface or a contact point.
The picture shown to to the left is a very complex assembly of a seal we manufactured that required a tolerance of +- .0002, a flatness of <.0005 and a surface finish that required no scratches or defects. We lapped all these parts to a finish of 4 or better.
